Revamped at a cost of R360-million, work on the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace is ahead of its FIFA completion deadline as the venue prepares to host 3 opening round 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup™ matches. Owned by the Bafokeng community that presides over the North West province's platinum mines - some of the richest in the world – the multi-purpose sports facility boasts an artificial athletics track, Olympic-size swimming pool, tennis, netball, volleyball, basketball courts and a fitness centre.

Home of PSL team, the Silver Stars, the 40 000 seater venue features hospitality suites for 320 people and 500 parking bays, with additional capacity if required. With the roof on, upgrades to the western stand virtually complete and the last of the new FIFA-approved seating is being installed, visiting (and local) fans will be able to experience the thrill of all the big match action in comfort in this state-of-the-art stadium. A brand new pitch also makes the venue suitable for play under diverse weather conditions. The stadium is geared for day and night televised broadcasting and a new sound system and giant 40m² screen – will ensure fans catch every second of the action as it happens. A new dual carriageway to the stadium will provide supporters ease of access to 5 first-round and 1 second-round match in 2010 as well as the wealth of game parks, entertainment complexes, adventure activities, cultural and historical attractions on Rustenburg's doorstep.
